June 8, 2023

Bernard Green has been hired as the director of the Student Success and Advising Center in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences.

Green, who began his duties on June 1, previously served as senior coordinator of the Scholars Initiative in the UGA Division of Academic Enhancement.

“I’m elated to begin this new role and look forward to working with all the outstanding students, faculty and staff in FACS,” Green said. “The various disciplines within the college are important to the advancement of our world. Better households and families produce strong communities and our world is an even better place when the various communities that we inhabit are stronger.”

The SSAC within FACS provides comprehensive support for prospective and current undergraduate students and addresses initial inquiries from prospective graduate students.

In this role, Green also will oversee academic advising, recruitment and enrollment management strategies.

Green also has served as an admissions officer in the UGA Office of Undergraduate Admissions and as an enrollment counselor at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton.

He holds a master’s of education in higher education administration from Georgia Southern University and will soon complete a doctor of philosophy in counseling and student personnel services at UGA.

“FACS has a strong reputation for being student-oriented and creating a culture that feels like family,” FACS dean Anisa Zvonkovic said. “We are happy to welcome Bernard into the college and look forward to his leadership in expanding programs to promote well-being and enhance our students’ sense of belonging.”
