As we look to the end of finals week and to commencement, I want to thank you for everything you have done to make this such a great year. We are really excited to welcome you back in August. We are finalizing new hires and looking forward to welcoming new members of our FACS faculty.
We will produce a “news roundup” of all the retirements and new hires over the summer. Having attended several retirement parties, I am struck with how innovative our retired faculty have been over the course of their careers, setting FACS on a course from which we have all benefitted.
Also be on the lookout for our digital “FACS of Today” newsletter later this summer. Please read below for important information from OTIS. We know you will benefit from the new facilities ticketing system.
New Facilities Ticketing System
Check out the new facilities ticketing system located at the bottom of the page of fcs.uga.edu.  You can make Teams phones, surplus, special funding, and other general requests.
Purchasing New Technology
If you're planning to buy any technology for your department, include OTIS from the start. The easiest first step is checking our technology recommendations page on the FACS website — it lists what we suggest for common needs. If nothing there quite fits what you're looking for, put in a support ticket and we'll help you track down the right solution.
A few things to keep in mind when ordering:
Computers, laptops, and printers should be shipped to Dawson Hall, Room 200. We'll receive them, configure them, and bring them to your office ready to go! For other equipment and peripherals, we're happy to do the same.
When you're in the early planning stages of a purchase, please involve OTIS. The OTIS team knows the landscape, and as a department buyer, has access to pricing that can save the college money and suggestions that you'll find useful.
The goal is simple: we don't want you to end up with something we can't support or spend money on something that won't work for your needs. We’re here to help make sure that doesn't happen. Questions? Reach out anytime.
GCDS Inaugural Symposium
The Georgia Center for Developmental Science (GCDS)  hosted its inaugural conference, “Pathways of Risk and Resilience: From Neuron to Neighborhood,” on April 22-23 at the University of Georgia Special Collections Libraries.  Over 100 students, faculty, distinguished guests, and community members attended. GCDS is looking to continue the momentum by growing our affiliate participation. FACS faculty can easily join by completing the interest form.
