College Communications Survey

Please respond to this survey about our college’s communications efforts by May 6. Your response will help us better understand how we are doing and identify ways we can improve.

HDFS Department Head

I am pleased to announce that April Few-Demo, professor and head of the department of human development and family science at Virginia Tech, will join us to become professor and head of the HDFS department here in FACS on August 1, 2022. Dr. Few-Demo holds a doctorate in child and family development from UGA. She brings an exemplary record of teaching, mentoring and nationally recognized scholarship. In her research, she uses critical theories to study intimate partner violence in different contexts and women’s decision-making processes and the influence of racialized sexual scripts on sexual decision-making.

This story about fashion merchandising student, Elaine Garvey was fittingly published on Earth Day. Elaine is president of UGA’s student organization, Fair Fashion, which works to promote slow fashion and raise awareness in the university community about unethical labor, pollution and waste in the fashion industry.
