Research

My research focuses on understanding socioeconomic inequality in the United States, with a particular emphasis on housing policy and the built environment. Housing plays a central role in shaping people’s lives and communities, and it often reflects and reinforces inequalities related to income, race, gender, and place.

My work examines how housing and neighborhood conditions contribute to ongoing social and economic disparities, while also exploring how community organizing and development efforts can help disadvantaged communities strengthen local housing systems and improve quality of life.  My scholarship includes applied research projects, professional reports, and journal articles that address critical housing and community development challenges.

As Director of the Center for Housing and Community Research, which houses the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing program, I connect research with public service and community outreach. Through ongoing collaboration with local leaders and stakeholders, my goal is to support communities in advancing equity, improving living conditions, and building long-term economic vitality.
