Why I chose my major

After sitting in my first Introduction to Fashion Merchandising class and learning about all the career opportunities the fashion industry offers, I promptly changed my FM minor to a major and made FACS my home. I knew I wanted to work for a business in an industry that I was passionate about, and by double majoring in business and fashion, I have made that dream a reality. The industry knowledge and leadership opportunities within the FM program have led to internships with Belk, Inc. and Ross Stores, Inc. as well as scholarship stipends to attend the National Retail Federation Student Program in New York City. I am incredibly grateful that I experienced all that FACS has to offer by making the decision to become a FM major.

What I like most about FACS

FACS has truly been my favorite community to be a part of on UGA’s campus. I have made some of my best friends by serving on the executive committee of the Student Merchandising Association, as well as received impactful mentorship from members of the FM faculty. FACS offers so many opportunities to get involved that lead to professional development and lasting relationships. I am confident the relationships I have made within the college will continue into my professional career and my personal life.

Post-graduation plans

I am excited to be checking off a life-long goal of mine by starting my career in New York City upon graduation. I have accepted an exciting role as a Merchandise Assistant for Saks OFF 5TH and will be moving to NYC in the new year!
