Why I chose my major

I went into college knowing that I wanted to go into adoption or foster care, but I did not want to major in social work. HDFS gave me the necessary knowledge to go into these fields but also equipped me with the skills and information needed to go into any type of career that involves serving people. Serving others is a passion of mine, and HDFS has helped me discover that passion more deeply and learn more about people than I could have never done in another major.

What I like most about FACS

I love how small and close-knit all of the students and faculty members are. I have never been in a class with anyone that I didn’t know, and the professors were eager to get to know their students. It is so apparent that the professors truly care about the well-being and lives of their students. It’s been such a joy getting to know all the professors on a deeper level, and FACS allows students to have lifelong mentors and friendships.

Post-graduation plans

I will be working full time with the Clarke County Department of Family and Children Services as a case manager assistant while attending graduate school in Charleston, South Carolina.
