Why I chose my major

I chose Human Development and Family Science because I have always been interested in understanding how people grow and how their environments and relationships shape them. Ireally value connection and helping others, and this major allows me to explore that in a meaningful way. I also appreciate how applicable the information is, especially in real-life situations and working directly with people. It has helped me build skills I am able to use in everyday interactions as well as in my future career.

What I like most about FACS

I chose the College of Family and Consumer Sciences because of how versatile it is and how it truly offers something for everyone. FACS is unique with its variety of majors and opportunities within the college. I have found it to be a very welcoming environment, where faculty genuinely want students to succeed as support them along the way. That combination of versatility and support stood out to me and made it feel like the right place for me. As someone who attended a small private high school, having face-to-face, meaningful connections with my professors is important to me, which the college of FACS offers to students. This college makes the very large population of UGA much smaller.
