Why I chose my major

I changed my major several times before choosing HDFS. Initially, I chose this major because it was broad and people-focused, and I hoped to work somewhere in which I could help others. However, as time progressed and I determined my plans for the future, I found that this major was a perfect fit, as it focuses on the development of people. In HDFS, we learned about the development of the whole person, focusing on socio-emotional and cognitive development as well as physical development. As someone pursuing a career in the healthcare field, I desired to understand how the challenges and progression of life could impact one’s development and health. This major has provided me with just that.

What I like most about FACS

This college is warm and welcoming, and the faculty and students have created a space where we can be open and vulnerable in our learning.

Post-graduation Plans

I plan to finish gaining experience and hopefully begin a program to become a Physician’s Assistant.
