Our faculty develop and implement programming that makes a real difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.

Programs cover a range of topics including consumer economics, financial management, workforce preparedness, housing, and community development. FACS Extension educates families to become healthier, more productive, financially independent, and environmentally responsible throughout the state.



  • Dr. Karen Tinsley was awarded the 2017 Housing Impact Award from the Housing Education and Research Association for her significant contributions to the field of housing through her work with the Georgia Initiative on Community Housing (GICH).  

  • Dr. Pamela Turner, and FACS Extension Agents Keishon Thomas and Mitzi Parker, earned a national award for their efforts to create healthier and safer environments for individuals, families and children, both at home and in child care settings. The award was presented by the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.
